A Pierre man is jailed after police say he stole a pickup truck full of newspapers and led officers on a high-speed chase west of Fort Pierre. Pierre Police Chief Jason Jones says the newspaper carrier had just begun delivering 246 papers shortly before 2:30 a.m. Monday when his truck was stolen.
A Georgia man arrested at the 2016 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally after an undercover sex trafficking operation was sentenced to prison last week. Marshall Brown, 27, of Gordon, Georgia, formerly of the Ellsworth Air Force Base, was sentenced on March 9 to eight years in prison, with five years of supervised release, according to a release from U.S. Attorney Ronald Parsons. Brown was also ordered to pay $100 to the Federal Victim Crimes Fund.
A Montana man faces felony drug charges in South Dakota after allegedly being caught with 20 pounds of marijuana during a traffic stop. The Daily Republic reports that 33-year-old Scott Whitmore, of Belgrade, Montana, was stopped March 15 for following another vehicle too closely on Interstate 90 in Brule County.

A Watertown, South Dakota man has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for fatally shooting a young neighbor last June following a dispute. Thirty-one-year-old Alexis Javier Velazquez-Sanchez earlier pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the death of Jayden Harley. The teen had graduated from high school earlier in the day and police say the defendant and victim argued over noise
Law enforcement responded to Pizza Hut in Box Elder regarding an unidentified male threatening to bomb the business and Douglas High School. Box Elder Police, Pennington County Sheriff and Ellsworth Explosive Detection Dog Team inspected all buildings. No evidence of credible threat.

Authorities have identified the three people killed in a weekend crash south of Parkston. Zachary Johnson, 16, Daniel Johnson, 49, and Tina Johnson, 48, were all killed on Saturday morning after a crash with a semi truck. They are from Tyndall.

Three people died in a two-vehicle crash south of Parkston. A car was northbound on South Dakota Highway 37 when the driver lost control on the ice-covered road. The vehicle went across the center line and collided with a southbound semi truck.
No one was hurt when a school bus struck a vehicle east of Aberdeen. Highway Patrol spokesman Tony Mangan tells the American News that all 11 children on the bus escaped injury in the crash about 4 p.m. Thursday.

A Sioux Falls man was indicted on burglary and theft charges last week after his most recent accused burglary led police to an unsolved one from 2016. Alexander Kpayah Vorjolo, 20, was indicted by a Minnehaha County grand jury last week on three separate cases. He faces multiple charges of burglary, grand theft and identity theft after court documents say he entered at least two homes, taking two purses full of cash and cards and driving off with a new vehicle in 2016
Structure fire at a home in the Silver Glen trailer park in NW Sioux Falls. Crews have extinguished the fire and no one was home/harmed. Cause of the fire is still unknown. A neighbor did say the residents were fairly new to area
A South Dakota House panel has advanced a bill that would impose harsher penalties for methamphetamine dealing and manufacturing. The House Judiciary Committee voted 12-1 Wednesday to pass the bill to the chamber's floor. Attorney General Marty Jackley's bill would make distribution and manufacturing a more serious felony with a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison and a $30,000 fine, up from 10 years imprisonment and a fine of $20,000.
Authorities say no one was seriously hurt after a three-vehicle crash resulted in a semi truck lodged into the side of a business in northern Sioux Falls. The accident happened around 7:45 a.m. Monday near the intersection of Cliff Avenue and North 54th Street.

Police say they are searching for a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred early Wednesday morning. The victim was walking near the 3000 block of South Minnesota Avenue when they were approached by a single person in a blue sedan, according to a release from the Sioux Falls Police Department.
A Sioux Falls garage was damaged in a fire Saturday afternoon. Sioux Falls Fire Rescue said smoke and flames were coming from a detached garage at 1711 S. 1st Avenue when they arrived just after two Saturday afternoon.
No one was injured during an early morning fire in an unoccupied home Friday. Crews responded to a report of a structure fire around 1:40 a.m. at 421 N. Cockatiel Avenue in northwestern Sioux Falls. A patrolling security guard in the area reported smoke and flames coming from the home, according to a Sioux Falls Fire Department news release.
Sioux Falls firefighters responded to a fire at 615 W. 11th street early this morning. When firefighters first arrived, they found two people hanging out a window on the second floor of the structure.
The suspect in a shooting on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation that left two people critically wounded recently pleaded not guilty. Lester Waters Jr. is charged in federal court with assault resulting in serious bodily injury. U.S. Attorney Ron Parsons says Waters is being detained until trial, which wasn't immediately scheduled.
